A friend recently asked me if I’d like to participate in an art show she was organizing. I was thrilled to have the opportunity. Rather than spend my limited time making a bunch of small pieces I decided to make one grand project on which a few small items would rest. That project is my trestle table.
Trestle Table Design
The table is based on a design by Christopher Schwarz of Lost Art Press. I talked to Chris and made sure it was OK if I sold a piece based on one of his designs, and he gave me the go ahead. In the end, I ended up making this piece my own. I simplified the support design. I added bowtie keys to a crack on the top surface to make it secure and add some visual interest. I added breadboards and inlayed bubinga blocks on the end to add some visual interest.
The table is massive. It comes in around 31″ x 91″. It’s incredibly heavy, attractive, and durable.
